What is Wado for?
It helps you request, organize, and track recommendation letters or outside materials for applications that don't provide a clean request system. You send the request, share the files, and see what happens next.
When should I use it?
Use it when an application asks you to collect a recommendation, upload a support letter, or have someone email or upload a material outside a built-in portal. That's the messy part Wado was built for.
When should I not use it?
You may not need it when the application already has its own official recommender system and requires all requests to happen there. Always follow the official requirements first.
Does my recommender need an account?
No. Recommenders respond through a secure link sent by email. No account, no password, no download. Optional recommender accounts may come later for people managing multiple requests.
What can my recommender see?
Only the specific request you sent them: the application name, organization, deadline, your message, submission instructions, and any files you attached to that request. They cannot see your dashboard or your other applications.
Can my recommender submit the letter somewhere else?
Yes. If the application asks your recommender to email or upload the material somewhere else, you put those instructions in the request. Your recommender then marks the request completed after submitting externally.
What does “completed externally” mean?
It means the recommender marked that they finished the task outside Wado, like emailing the material or uploading it through an external link. It does not mean Wado verified that the outside organization received it. We can't know that, and we won't pretend to.
Is Wado an official application portal?
No. Wado helps coordinate recommendation and outside-material requests. It does not replace the official application system, and it does not submit your application.
Can I use it for things besides recommendation letters?
Yes. Letters of support, reference letters, evaluation forms, verification letters, and other outside materials all work the same way.
What happens if my recommender declines?
You're notified right away. The request stays in your history, and you can create a new request for someone else if you still need the material. People decline for all kinds of reasons; knowing early is the whole point.
Are there any limits?
During early access, Wado is free. Files can be up to 10 MB each, and each request can carry up to 20 files. There are no caps on applications or requests right now. If that ever changes, we'll say so clearly before it does.
